Providing Water for Black Rhinos

Holtzman Wildlife Foundation made a grant to help provide water resources for the black rhino in Kenya. The Borana Conservancy, a Kenyan nonprofit organization has several dams and water holes to capture rainwater, but the growing number of Black Rhinos has increased the pressure on the existing resources. This has resulted in intra-species competition affecting the region’s carrying capacity.

The funded project constructed and replaced nearly 10km of pipelines and drilled new wells. The “water reticulation” project will greatly expand the region’s ability to support Black Rhinos.
